Frizzy hair is dehydrated hair. When hair is dry, the hair cuticles are raised and release moisture rather than lock it in. In contrast, when hair cuticles are well hydrated, they appear smooth and create the appearance of smoothness across the whole head. Both straight and curly hair can be frizzy, but curly hair tends to dry out faster requiring greater effort to keep it looking smooth and shiny.
Here are a few suggested DO’s and DON’Ts:
DO start from the inside. Drink a minimum of eight glasses of water a day and eat a balanced diet that includes a lot of vegetables, protein and biotin-rich foods like avocado, salmon and nuts.
DON’T over wash your hair. When you wash your hair, you wash away valuable oils that moisturize your scalp and hair.
DO use a moisture-rich shampoo and leave-in conditioner regularly.
DON’T expose your hair to too much sun.
DO use natural oils (argan, avocado, olive, coconut) as a pre-washing step, added to your conditioner or as a spray to keep hair moisturized between washes.
DON’T use hair-drying products and treatments that contain alcohol and unnecessary, dangerous chemicals, like formaldehyde.
